Pepperjack Cabernet Sauvignon,Taylors Estate Shiraz Online,Chardonnay

On Saturday night I’m having my first formal dinner party in my newly renovated New York apartment. I’ve lived in this city for 3 months and I’m a long way from home. I’m an Aussie so I want to make something that reminds me of home. A meal that my new friends and colleagues can remember as distinctly Australian. I don’t know that many people here yet and I’m a bit anxious because I’ve invited my Boss and his wife Sandra as well as a few new friends from the gym. I’m an Engineer by trade but I also love to cook, so I’m going to do my best to impress.

In New York there isn’t much Aussie wine to choose from so I’ve been looking on the net, I see there is Taylors estate shiraz online which in my opinion is a rather nice Aussie Shiraz and the price is fairly decent so I think that’s a good wine tasting machine to go with the steak. I’m not sure how I’m going to pull off a barbecue in New York City but I feel keen. I’m one of the few residents in this building with a balcony and I saw rather affordable bbq Webbers the other day in Queen Street so I’ve decided to buy one this afternoon after work and give it a go. It’s Wednesday, I have three days to prepare.

A bbq in New York in my very own apartment which now looks rather funky even if I do say so myself, well it should, I spent nearly a million on buying it and a hundred grand on renovations on top and now it feels like the bank owns my soul but what is a life worth if you can’t live it the way you want before you die? As I said I want it to have that authentic Australian feel but you can’t start a gathering with red wine first or it will get too deep and too sombre to fast. Red wine does that, it makes people dig deep inside and confess all their sins, it has a tendency to be wintery and broody. Perfect! It is just below freezing outside so this is going to be something to remember. See this post if you are looking for wine by the glass.

French champagne for the ladies and a nice Australian Chardonnay to begin, just to get everyone relaxed and in the mood and then the Pepperjack cabernet sauvignon which I saw yesterday in the bottle shop across the road for a rather reasonable price, although about 10 dollars a bottle dearer than home, but.. life is for living and tomorrow I could die so I rather life one second a time and wine is good, we all know it true, it’s good for the soul and thinning the blood too – how amazing is that? I’ve worked so hard for this, to make my dreams come true, wish me luck for that is my greatest wish for you.
