Procrastination – This All-Star Middle Linebacker as wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks all year long. As soon as a running back starts to pick up momentum down the middle lane, he stops him in his tracks, and plugs up that hole like a stopped up toilet.

The way to defeat procrastination is to have a to-do list of the tasks that you need to accomplish every day to reach your long-term goal.

However, just having a daily to-do list is not enough. I used to only keep a to-do list, and I would never complete my list. The main reason is because while I was completing my list of tasks to get done each day, something else that I needed to add to my list would always pop into my mind. So every day my list of tasks would go uncompleted while my list continued to grow longer. It is kind of intimidating waking up the next morning looking at that long list of uncompleted tasks.

You need a to-do list and a must-do list to achieve your goals. Break down your long-term goal into monthly, weekly, and daily tasks that you need to complete in order to achieve your long-term goal. Then set a new goal each day to accomplish the top three tasks that you must do that day in order to achieve your goal for that day. If anything else pops up during the day, just add it to your to-do list.

When you complete your three must-do tasks, pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Then move the items from your to-do list to your must-do list in order of priority.

Excuses- Okay, we see that trying to run the ball right up the middle is not working, but as soon as you start taking action around the ends, you get tripped up by one of those pesky Cornerbacks, Excuses. It never fails. Those excuses are really good.

The way to defeat your excuses, are to attack them head on, and do it anyway.

Haters- This is the last line of defense between you and a touchdown. You will have two more defensive backs just sitting back there, hating on you for no reason. You have already come this far. You just have to fake out your Haters and ignore them.

Stuff- You did all of that work to score a touchdown, but Stuff always happens. He is not an All-Star Quarterback for nothing. He will pull a hat-trick with only a few seconds left on the clock.

Oh well, if you lose one battle that does not mean you will lose the war. You need not only to set goals, but you also need to achieve your goals and become unstoppable to get what you want in life.

1. Recurring Income Stream – Whether you are selling your own products or affiliate products your income will always depend on the next sale. A membership site is the best way to generate repeat sales online. If you argue that it is hard to get members, it is just as hard to make a one-time sale, and then another, and another, whereas if you have your own membership site and you make one sale, you can get paid over and over again.
I created my first product two years ago. I could have easily turned that product into a membership site if I had known better, and I would still be getting paid today!

2. You Can Deliver Tons of Value to Your Members at an Affordable Price – I have learned more from membership sites than I have learned from internet marketing products and coaching programs that I have spent thousands of dollars on. When you spend that much money on a program or course, and then you do not get the results you were looking for it is not a good feeling.
At first you might feel ripped off. Next you will try to justify your decision to purchase the course by writing it off as a learning experience. However, with your membership site you can get valuable feedback from your members. This will enable you to offer higher quality products on the back end of your sales funnel.

3. It is Easier to Make Back End Sales – The way to consistently create relevant content for your membership site is to record a high value conference call or webinar every week. In doing so, you will build your credibility and expert status in your niche. This will make it easier to make sales when you recommend other products and services.

Another reason that you may not have a membership site yet is because you may think it is too complicated to create one. This is what kept me from creating my own membership site for two years. When I found out about Kajabi, it really simplified the process.

However, if you are on a tight budget, there are still other alternatives. There are some free membership plugins that you can install on a hosted WordPress blog. I do not really recommend this route though, especially if you are not that technical.

Make your wish come true!

I think most people gave up on finding that genie in the magic lamp years ago, but it is still possible to make your dreams a reality. This is a 6 step process that you can follow to make your wish come true.

Step 1: Choose One Niche and Focus – The first part of this strategy should be relatively easy to do. It is the focusing part that trips people up.

Just ask yourself three questions:

1. What do I spend most of my time doing?
2. What do I spend most of my money on?
3. How can I find a way to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace doing what I love to do?

For me the answer was making money online.

Step 2: Find a Definite Purpose – The success of my students in the original 2Kin10Days Training Program planted a seed in my mind. I saw that there was a huge demand for marketing training not only in the network marketing industry, but in the home business industry in general. That is when I had the idea of starting a business school to teach marketers and home business owners what is not being taught to them.

Step 3: Develop a Burning Desire – When I moved to the country to live in my parent’s old house on the bible camp that my dad founded…I was optimistic to have a chance to work with my older brother and sister (who are both school teachers) to help rebuild my dad’s dream. When I brought the idea of starting a business school on the campground to my brother and sister, they quickly shot it down.

My sister even had the audacity to suggest that we run the idea by the board of directors, which consists of a group of old adults who are set in their ways, and view me as a f-up. If there is one thing that will make me do something, it is somebody telling me I can’t.

Step 4: Learn What You Need To Learn To Make It Happen – Some people are intimidated by technology and learning new skills. What we must realize is that most of the technology that we have today did not even exist 50 years ago, let alone a decade ago. So the question we must ask ourselves is, “If a person can invent something in his or her lifetime, don’t you think you can master it with enough focus and discipline over a relatively shorter period of time?”

Step 5: Find a Huge Glaring Hole in Your Niche and Fill It – When I enrolled back into college this term for Animation, I was put in an Introduction to Business course as an elective. Our first assignment was to find three jobs that we would qualify for once we complete our degree.

This was a more of a challenge than I expected. Ninety percent of the available positions for Animation were faculty jobs. This opened my eyes to another perpetual cycle in our educational system. New technical schools are popping up all across the country, which increases the demand for teachers. These schools run aggressive advertising campaigns. Think of all of the billboards in major cities and all of the commercials that you see on television promoting a different technical school. Many young ambitious students attend these technical schools, earn their degree, and are disillusioned when they do not find their dream job, so they take what is available and become faculty members so they can teach the next crop of students.

Step 6: Gently Brush Your Haters off Your Shoulders and Stay Focused – Ignore facetious, condescending, stupid statements like, “Are you there yet?”…and stay focused on your goal, because the day will come when you make your wish come true and they will swallow those words.

PayPal Integration – Kajabi is how I actually found out that you could create a membership site with a free PayPal account. This has motivated me to take the time to learn more about the tools that I already have access too. The integration is slightly technical, but there are some really good tutorial videos to walk you through the process.

Clickbank Integration – Every new product on Clickbank seems to have a membership site attached to it. The reason is because Kajabi makes it so easy. Also the top selling products on Clickbank all have video sales pages and killer sales and marketing funnels. You can literally be a rookie at product launches, sales funnels, and the maze of confusing internet marketing strategies, and still come out looking like an experienced pro once you set up your marketing campaign with Kajabi.

Professional Custom Squeeze Pages – All of the internet marketing systems out there that offer Done-For-You Squeeze Pages to their members use Kajabi. Of course it also integrates seamlessly with the top autoresponders on the market, but I can honestly say that this is the first platform I have seen that merges with Infusionsoft.

Okay, I am getting excited all over again writing about this robust marketing system. Setting up your membership site is just a fraction of what you will be able to do with this marketing beast.  I could go on and on about the benefits and features but they explain everything on their website.

Also this is a hosted platform, which means you do not have to deal with the headache of downloading any complicated membership software to your hard drive and then uploading it to your server.

If you are starting from scratch and want to become a millionaire online, the first thing you need to do is decide on a niche where you will have a competitive advantage in the marketplace. That means you are passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. This will allow you to create high value content and information products.

Then you need to invest in basic tools like a domain name , your own web hosting account, and an autoresponder so you can start marketing your information products. Once you start generating profits, don’t run out and spend it all, like most frivolous people who lack self-discipline.  Always save a percentage of every dollar that you earn and reinvest a percentage of your profits in the right tools to grow your business.

I had to learn these principles the hard way, because when I first started learning how to market online I had it all backwards. However, if you learn these principles in the beginning of your online business endeavors, you will reach your financial goals much sooner.

1. Focus On A Niche That Gives You A Competitive Advantage In The Marketplace – This means to find a way to monetize doing what you love to do, as opposed to jumping at everything that sounds good. If you take this approach, it will be easier for you to build your credibility online and offline, create relevant, unique content, and create your own information products. Think of all the people who became rich gurus by doing what they love to do.

2. Create and Promote Your Own Products On The Front End of Your Sales Funnel – I created my first internet marketing training program almost two years ago. The main income stream in that program was an affiliate product. Even the Affiliate Marketing gurus create their own products teaching you how to make money with affiliate sales.

Also, the best products to create are information products. You can create them quickly, they have a much higher profit margin, and they are less time-consuming and less expensive to create than physical products.

Also, promoting your own products on the front end is better for your self-confidence and self-esteem. It is what they call “Pride of Ownership” in real estate.

3. Promote Other People’s Products That You Use On The Back End Of Your Sales Funnel– This includes affiliate programs, network marketing products and services, and products that are drop-shipped.  Still to this day, it is somewhat annoying when an online marketer sends me a link in hopes that I will join his or her company. What many of them fail to realize is that they really do not own anything. I can’t be mad at them though, because I used to do the same thing myself.

When you adopt this strategy, and build your brand as an expert in your niche by creating your own products on the front end first, it will be easier to make sales on the back end later.

Sure, many people will argue that it is easier to start making money online by joining a business opportunity or by selling affiliate products, but many times it is only because they are trying to sell you something.

15. Dedicate Yourself to Serving Others – This is the total opposite reason than most people have for learning how to make money online, but it is as true as the wisdom that you will receive when you climb to the top of a mountain to get advice from a guru.

First, always do more than you are paid for, and then always go the extra mile.

16. Speed and Dependability – First learn the difference between looking and being. This means the difference between what is important and unimportant. Next prioritize you tasks from the most important to the least important. Lastly, develop a sense of urgency and do it NOW!

17. Be Impeccably Honest –This means tell the truth, be the truth, and live the truth. Never compromise, always be straightforward with others, and always be true to yourself.

18. Learn to Focus – This means being able to concentrate single-mindedly on one task. This is how you will accomplish your major goal in life. The way to do this is to break that big goal down into yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, all of the way down to the tasks that you need to accomplish each day…and then focus on those tasks, one at a time, until you complete them.

19. Be Decisive – This is one habit that all self-made millionaires have. Not being able to make up your mind, and being a whimsical person will only lead to living your life for other people who are decisive. You will always be looking for the greener grass on the other side of the fence. Any decision is better than no decision at all. Take time to think, plan, and decide. Also be willing to accept feedback and make adjustments to your plan if you find a better way to do something.

20. Courage and Persistence- These are twin traits like the opposite sides of a coin. It takes courage to launch your idea with the possibility of failure, but like Nike says, you have to “Just Do It”. Persistence is the ability to endure when you face the inevitable challenges that will come when you take action on your goal.

21. Self-Discipline – Self-discipline is the single most important quality of character. This is the ability to make yourself do, what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.

8. Never Stop Learning – Many self-made millionaires did not finish school, but that does not mean they stopped learning. They kept learning things that are not taught in traditional schools, such as how to manage their money to create wealth and how to master their niche.

9. Be a Workaholic – Several times while I was virtually homeless, and in between houses, I was told that I need to take a break because I spend too much time on the computer. What seems like work to other people is not really work to self-made millionaires because they love what they do.

10. Surround Yourself With Like-minded People – Association is everything. We have all heard that your income is close to the five people who you spend most of your time with. You can surround yourself with self-made millionaires by attending events and seminars, joining groups online, and attending networking events offline. However if you are limited and are not currently able to get online, or if you are unable to travel to seminars, then you can surround yourself with like-minded people by reading books and listening to CD’s in isolation.

11. Stay Off of the Emotional Roller-Coaster – Realize that life is a series of peaks and valleys, and you will have some good days and some bad days in your business and in your life. When you have a good day, cool beans! When you have a bad day, cool beans! Be like Droopy and keep an even keel and stay focused on your goal.

12. Become a Rubber Band – This means be resilient. You will have some failures in business and the life, but have you have to bounce back like a rubber band. Make a comeback like Rocky. The only way to really fail is to quit.

13. Unlock Your Creativity – Do not be afraid to put your ideas into action. We would not have the automobile if it was not for Henry Ford or the airplane without the Wright Brothers. They both had to tap into their creative genius to invent something that did not exist before. You are a genius too. You just have believe that you are smart and find a way to tap into your inborn creativity.

Notice that these character traits work hand in hand. If you never stop learning it is inevitable that you will tap into your creative ability.

14. Be Optimistic About Everything – Napoleon Hill talks about having a pleasing attitude. If you are optimistic about everything you can’t help but to have a pleasing attitude. If you look hard enough you can find the good in any situation, regardless of how bad it may appear on the outside. That it is why it is called the “seed” of benefit. Like Zig Ziglar says, “Become a good finder”.

1. Dream Big – I remember when I shared one of my ideas with my older brother. His exact words were “That’s too big!” He may have been trying to discourage me, but that is one of the biggest compliments he could have given me. Little dreams and negativity are for broke people. Big dreams are for self-made millionaires. That is why it is called “The Magic of Thinking Big”.

2. Do What You Love – Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg, Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Michel Jordan, 50 Cent, Nancy from “Sewing with Nancy”, Brian Tracy, and the list goes on and on. They all do different things, but they all do what they love to do, and they are all self-made millionaires and billionaires. Ignore everybody who tells you what you “should” do. Do what you love to do.

3. Commit to Excellence – Broke people complain and blame, employees do stuff because they have to in order to get a paycheck, but if you go to a seminar you will find a bunch of self-made millionaires because they are always working on themselves to get better, do better, and be better. Do like the Army and “Be All You Can Be”. A. L. Williams said it best. “All you can do is all you can do, but all you can do is enough.” Always do your best in everything that you do.

4. Leverage Your Unique Talents and Abilities – There are several skills that you need to develop in order to be successful in your online business. Talents and abilities are different than skills. Skills are learned, whereas you are born with your talents and abilities. However, they can both be improved upon. Do not make the excuse that you are not good at anything. Making excuses is not a talent. Michael Jordan did not have any innate basketball abilities, but he worked on his skills harder than anyone else, and he became one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

5. Accept Responsibility for EVERYTHING That Happens to You – This is hard to do sometimes, especially when someone or something does something to you. But you will always discover that it really is your fault, because you are the one who put yourself in that situation.

6. Know Where You Are Going – Napolean Hill calls this having a “definite purpose”. When you have a definite purpose in life, it is easier to stay focused, and distractions will not get you off track so quickly. If you do not know your definite purpose, ask yourself WHAT you want to accomplish more than anything. Then ask yourself WHY you want to accomplish it.

7. Failure Is Not An Option – Anytime you do not accomplish your goal, it is only a learning experience. That is why self-made millionaires refuse to quit, even when they are faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles on their road to riches. They just keep going and going like the Energizer Bunny.

You have what it takes to become a self-made millionaire. Realize that all of the self-made millionaires that came before you are not better than you. They may do what they do better than you, but they are not better than you. That means you can become a self-made millionaire too!

When I ran away from that house in the country where I was being held prisoner by my own family…well I did not run away, (I could hardly walk)…one of my students who I had recently met online, drove two hours from Atlanta, Georgia to  rescue me. I realized she made a sacrifice to make that drive to the country and I will never forget it.

I called my cousin, who I had only met in person three times in my entire life, and told her I was coming in town to visit for the weekend. I got a chance to get to know my cousin that weekend. It was the first time I ever talked extensively to one of my first cousins. My student (friend) and my cousin will be witnesses to my story when I become a millionaire.

For those two days, while I slept on my cousin’s couch, my biggest question was, “Where am I going to go next?” I don’t remember how I got online, but somehow I got in touch with one of my good friends from back home on Facebook, and he told me about  a lady who was renting out a room for $75 per week with free utilities and she had internet access!

I think I had exactly $75 in the bank at the time. My other good friend, who was now living  about two hours North of Chattanooga, outside of Atlanta, let me sleep at his house that Sunday night, and gave me a ride to Chattanooga when he got home from work that Monday afternoon. He told me not to worry about the gas.

When I got to that house in Chattanooga, I gave the lady a check for $75 because I knew it would clear. However, she insisted that she needed cash because she had a bill that she needed to pay. I called my friend, and he gave me a ride across the border to cash my check. My bank was in Georgia, and the place where I was now living was in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I hobbled into that bank with my dad’s old cane to cash my check.

When I got back to the house I gave the lady the cash. I could tell she was poor, but she had internet access. The next day while I was trying to make money online, the power cut off.

I ended up at my friend’s mom’s house. She had an empty room that she was willing to let me use until I got on my feet.  I don’t remember her ever using that room when I was a kid. She let me live there rent free. My friend’s mom was the first person who was able to show me what to do to get the help I needed.

My two friends and their families, that poor lady, and my friend’s mom will all be witnesses to my story when I become a millionaire.

I remember thinking to myself that my life would have been a lot easier if I had never left Chattanooga in the first place. Then again, I may have not had a good story when I become a millionaire.

Losing $50,000 cash on a scam, losing my only house to foreclosure, being homeless, filing for bankruptcy, living in the warehouse where I used to work and being embarrassed when the maintenance man discovered me, having my car crushed on the interstate, and becoming  physically disabled will all be a part of my story when I become a millionaire.

Being forgotten by all of the students who I helped make money online for free in the original 2Kin10Days Program, because I did not realize my own value, will just be a part of my story. Also, the lady who sent me that email bragging about how she was making $10,000 per month selling insurance and how my 2Kin10Days Program was a scam…she will be a part of my story when I become a millionaire.

That girl who tried to ruin me financially and mentally will be a part of my story. She tried to ruin me financially with her out of control spending habits and lack of patience, by draining all of the money I had saved in the bank to a grand total of 1 cent. She tried to ruin me mentally by always complaining about my obvious weaknesses and making me feel bad every time I asked for help with something.

There is no love lost though, because she will also be a part of my story when I become a millionaire.

Being treated like a step-child by my older, super-religious brother and sister while I was trapped out in the country at that Bible Camp will be another chapter. I was excited because I thought we would be able to work together to rebuild my father’s vision, that has declined since his death. Instead, they shot down every idea I had, and tried to start arguments with me for no reason. It is all good though. They will be a part of my story when I become a millionaire too.

Embrace the inevitable challenges that you will face on your path to financial freedom, because when you do what you set out to do, it will be worth it. Then you can write your book, and it will be a bestseller.
